WOLVES centre Ryan Atkins will miss Friday's clash with Hull KR after being hit with a one-match ban by the RFL
The 30-year-old was charged with a Grade C dangerous contact offence withthe option of an early guilty plea, which could have seen him banned for as many as three matches.
However, the Match Review Panel has decided a one-game ban and a £300 fine is a sufficient punishment.
The charge related to an incident in the 11th minute of last week’s 20-18 Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Widnes involving Vikings full-back Rhys Hanbury.
Atkins, who was replaced later on in the game and was taken to hospital with concussion, is alleged to have caused “unnecessary pressure” on the Australian’s neck during a tackle.
This fresh suspension comes as another blow to Wolves boss Tony Smith, who will also have Ashton Sims missing for Friday’s trip to Hull KR as he serves the final game of his own two-match ban.
Hooker Brad Dwyer will face no further action for a trip on Widnes’ Corey Thompson while the Vikings trio of Patrick Ah Van, Hep Cahill and Aaron Heremaia have all been cleared by the Match Review Panel.
