Hull FC Reserves 53 Warrington Wolves Reserves 12.

WOLVES’ reserves fell to a disappointing defeat in Humberside as they fell to a heavy loss against Hull FC on Sunday.

Stuart Barrow’s men, featuring the likes of Tom Lineham, Dec Patton and Benjamin Jullien, were level at 12-12 going into the closing stages of the first half, but the hosts scorched away to seal a comfortable win.

Hull made a bright start and took the lead when Kyle Evans raced 60 metres down the wing to score before Dean Hadley broke through with a diagonal run to score between the posts, with both tries being converted by Curtis Naughton.

The visitors hit back when good work from Patton and Toby King found Lineham on the left wing and he stepped back inside to force his way over.

King was involved again when his chip ahead bounced off a Hull defender to Richard Harris, who in turn scored on the left.

Lineham crossed again to level the scores before two quick tries from Jack Downs and Reece Dean gave Hull a 24-12 lead going into the break.

The first score of the second half was always going to be crucial and it came for the hosts when Jordan Abdull found Jansin Turgut’s angled run and he scored between the posts.

Abdull was the provider for the next Hull try, scored by Ash Bastiman left of the sticks, before Dean turned provider for Bastiman’s second shortly after.

It was becoming a chastening experience for The Wire and, after Dean had landed a drop goal, Jack Sanderson crossed with the last play of the match to bring up Hull’s half-century.

Barrow’s side will have the chance for revenge in their next game as they welcome the Black and Whites to Victoria Park Stadium on Saturday, July 16.
