WARRINGTON’S Nick Jones ran a season’s best time to come second in the Lancaster 5k on Saturday.

Jones, who was first across the line in the over 40s Masters group, finished the course in a time of 15 minutes 39 seconds.

Warrington Athletics Club’s James Gladman broke a club record while competing as a guest at the Loughborough International meeting on Sunday.

Running 400 metres for the first time since 2009, he came through the field in the C guest race to win in 47.80 seconds, breaking the record set by Ben Green in 2007.

Two of the club’s younger members took part in the Junior Great Manchester Run on Sunday, with 12-year-old Rebecca Nixon finishing fifth in her section after completing the course in 9 minutes 38 seconds and 11-year-old Jack Hughson coming home in 12 minutes 20 seconds to finish 84th in his section.

Matt Wigelsworth ran a new season’s best time of 1 minute 53.9 seconds to win the British Milers Club 800m B race at last week’s Trafford Grand Prix, while Chris Fance ran a new personal best of 4 minutes 0.71 seconds to finish eighth in the 1500m.

There were also personal bests for Katie Lowery, who finished fourth in the Grand Prix 800m in 2 minutes 13.07 seconds, and Jack Stubbings, who came home in 4 minutes 05.51 seconds to finish ninth in the Grand Prix 1500 metres to cap a successful evening for the club.
