WOLVES winger Kevin Penny is set to miss “four to five weeks” after tearing his hamstring in last weekend’s defeat at Wakefield.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury in the latter stages of Sunday’s 36-28 reverse at Belle Vue as he looked to score the winning try.

Wolves head coach Tony Smith confirmed the injury wasn’t quite as serious as the one suffered by scrum-half Chris Sandow and also provided an update on the fitness of centres Ryan Atkins and Rhys Evans, who were both forced off at Wakefield.

“Kev Penny has a Grade 2 tear in his hamstring so it’s looking like four to five weeks for that one in the best case scenario,” he said.

“It’s not as severe as Chris Sandow’s so he’ll be way less in terms of time.

“Ryan Atkins got a concussion so he’s touch and go for the weekend, Rhys Evans is having scans on his shoulder and neck, he’s doubtful for the weekend as well.

“We’ve picked up our fair share and I think the rest should be OK.”
