Newcastle University 2 Lymm Ladies 0

A LONG away day ended in defeat for Lymm after a hard fought contest against a well-drilled Newcastle team.

Both teams had opportunities to open the scoring but Lymm felt hard done by at Newcastle’s first goal – the result of a penalty flick.

A fantastic initial save by goalkeeper Amy Heywood was ruled illegal for moving too early. With Newcastle awarded a rare second chance they scored.

Lymm battled back but could not find an equaliser and as they gambled late on and pushed higher up the pitch Newcastle were able to break and grab a second against the run of play.

Lymm Ladies' third team drew 2-2 at Northop Hall seconds.

The away team enjoyed the majority of the possession, especially in the second half.

However, the hosts' skilful forwards helped Northop take the lead in the first half.

Lymm eventually found an equaliser from a set piece short corner finished off by Alison Fearn before the break.

It was Northop Hall who scored next after an unfortunate incident for the away team when the game restarted prematurely whilst one of the Lymm players was still being helped off the pitch by team mates.

Lymm continued to battle with Jess Impey finally finding the back of the goal after a strike in from captain Sarah Lyons.
