IT was a heroic performance from Warrington Wolves last night.

Wolves led 6-0 at the break thanks to Chris Sandow's first try for the club.

But they need a 67th minute Kevin Penny score and Gidley conversion to take the points.

Although they had to rely on on Zak Hardaker missing a late penalty which would have given the home side a point.

The decision given by ref James Child for the merest of contact from Ben Currie following a kick through left Tony Smith puzzled.

The Wolves boss said: "That was a soft penalty in the end.

"I would have hated to lose a point on that last penalty but fortunately it worked out."
