WARRINGTON Wolves new boy Ryan Bailey is a player who has always divided opinion.

While the former Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain prop's approach to playing the game on the line - often crossing it and getting under the skin of opponents as well as fans on the terraces - has landed him in hot water at times, he also has a list of achievements in the game that any player would be proud of.

With such a contradiction in Bailey's make-up and curriculum vitae, it is perhaps no surprise his capture by Warrington Wolves this week has been greeted with extreme reactions - and in huge number.

Warrington Guardian:

On Monday, when rumours spread like wildfire of Wolves showing interest, feedback on the Warrington Guardian website and its Facebook page from fans ranged from apparent 'disgust' in the club's move to 'satisfaction' in adding some much-needed aggression to the pack.

While there was a sense of 'mellowing' for some after the 31-year-old's signing on a one-year deal was confirmed yesterday, others remained 'angry' and seem convinced that Wolves' ninth signing for 2016 sends out the 'wrong message.'

YOUR REACTIONS:

When Warrington Guardian broke news of Wolves' interest on Monday:

Xander Schofield: "If this is true then the club I love no longer exists. He is a disgusting player who has no business on a rugby field."

Mark Graham: "Bad players don't win 6 Grand Finals & 3 World Club Challenges. He's played for Smith before & will bring much needed aggression & experience to our pack. Ironic how people get hysterical about this yet worship Les Boyd who received bans of 12 & 15 months following violent play on the pitch."

Warrington Guardian:

Lee Turner: "A poor signing if it's true. He's been successful because he was part of a great team, too many penalties and a liability. Sims gives us the aggression and to be fair costs us a lot of penalties, Bailey would only make this worse. Come on Wire we can attract better players than this."

Martyn Toft: "Need to air our opinions to the club, like the West Ham fans did when they were rumoured to be signing Joey Barton. #fanpower"

Mark Danno Daniels: "If we look at some of the previous signings we've made. He's close to being top draw."

Alison Young: "Why would we do that! Gutted if true!"

Adam Barnes: "To be fair, Westwood has had loads of bad tempered and stupid moments just like Bailey has. Loads of experience and aggression off the bench, could be a decent signing."

Dave Hemming: "I would rather Mavis from Corrie join us at prop. Worst Monday EVER!"

Warrington Guardian:

John Knox: "If we sign that's me out."

John Rudd: "If they are I'm glad I didn't get a season ticket this year. Won't even bother to cherry pick matches. Something wrong at the club!"

Peter Mairs: "He might be a dirty player but he will strengthen is forwards as much As I don't like him he wouldn't be that bad of signing Toby Bridge: "I take it they've decided they don't want to sell any more season tickets then ?"

Mark Kidder Sanders: "All these people saying he's not a bad player!!! Give your heads a wobble!"

Kay Wadsworth: "Hope it's not true don't like him he's a liability on and off the field."

Warrington Guardian:

Dave Hemming: "Don't expect big things this season. We have compiled an 80 percent new pack after the other 10 percent last season. Plus, by the look of it a new half back combination too."

Mark Giblin: "He's not even a good player this isn't a signing imo that would take us forward!!"

John Ettinger: "A bit more nastiness in the pack."

John Tempest: "Not enough left in the tank or he'd still be with Leeds, now d take Peacock for a swan song year."

Simon Robert Ellison: "No way he's a liability !!!!"

Warrington Guardian:

Andrew Newton: "Wire must be really desperate if this is true!"

Simon Paul Hogden: "Personally I would give him a year see how he goes."

Michelle Dodd: "No thanks."

Stephen Knowles: "Noooooo!!!"

nitram: "It's a wind up right? Sorry but liability, overweight, too old and left two clubs since leaving Leeds in 2014, so appears no desire to play also! Sorry Tony this for me is no no !

Southoxfordwire: "Why?"

Warrington Guardian: Ryan Atkins is tackled by Ryan Bailey

commentorr: "Must be a joke - surely Tony Smith knows that Bailey is the biggest liability in the game. Spends as much time in the sin bin or being banned as he does on the pitch! Picks on the smaller guys and runs away from the bigger ones. This would be one of Warrington's worst ever buys!!"

wirewadz: "To be fair......Tony Smith knows him better than any of us."

ninearches: "I think it is more a measure of the lack of class props in the league that we are being linked with this pantomime villain. Maybe if Tony Smith can get Bailey's attitude & fitness right we could get a good prop for 2 or 3 years. Apparently ,Les Cats are being linked with the other prize clown, Willy Mason.

YOUR REACTIONS:

After yesterday's confirmation that Wolves have signed Ryan Bailey:

arnold.bishop@ntlworld.com: "Unfortunately I have got my season ticket I would not have bought if I thought we would be getting hull k r cast offs Ryan Bailey and. Cox are not cup winning players any more these will push youngsters like George king out of the club.I wonder if I can get a full refund has season hast started yet

wardyy_90: "You support EVERYONE in your team, No matter what past they have. Look at Westwood, Bridge etc. Get behind the team

wirewadz: "Well said Wardy, me personally, I wouldn't have signed him, but the fact is we have signed him so I will get behind him. To be fair as well he does bring a lot of experience.

wardyy_90: "Exactly...Asked me yesterday I would of said how much I despise him, But now he's a wire. He starts a clean sheet and he's now a wire!

Warrington Guardian:

Southoxfordwire: "First Gary Wheeler then this, is Tony Smith on a secret RFL contract to keep Warrington at mid table?

casino soul: "if this signing doesnt help to sell season tickets i dont know what will. (laughable) i used to get excited about new signings, but this, starting to question tony smiths judgement, ex season ticket holder, i am not in.

Todgy: "If your an ex season ticket holder you shouldn't be bothered then ehh?"

montblanc: "I cannot believe The Wire have signed Ryan Bailey. I am 52 and have followed Warrington all my life and this is one of the most disappointing signings we have ever made and it sends out all the wrong messages to the rest of the rugby league. Challenge cup final, injury time and Bailey flops down with his elbow on young winger Chris Riley and damages his ribs, but would never face up to Morley. Very. very disappointing day for many Wire fans.

Warrington Guardian:

John Ettinger: "never been a fan but he has more final experience and rings than any of our squad.see how he goes."

Diane Edgerton Anders: "I don't believe it he is a liability..."

Jeff Martial Mullen: "Liability"

Kristine Wright: "Is this another joke xx"

Tom Rowe: "Underwhelmed."

Deon Devine: "Backwards step (frown emoticon)."

Warrington Guardian:

John.Robinson582: "Take yourself back to the 80's, a certain Les Boyd was worse that Bailey and look how he turned out at Warrington!!!!! Let's get behind all the players, whoever they are.

commentorr: "good point!"

Bakubrit: "Proof will be in the performances. Let him pull the shirt on first before you send the guy to the guillotine."

furbyswench: "When it was said Bailey was coming fans were upset now they are saying wait till he puts a wolves shirt on hey then he will be second coming--dear me!! Then people are now saying look at Les Boyd come on rugby has moved on so much they super fit not semi thugs now, But hey you have now gone way way back mr. Ryan Bailey now theres a real role model well done Wolves. What a star you have got now. No doubt the fans will all be singing Bailey-Bailey- as he floors some poor young player be proud-so proud."

Keith Michael Forsyth: "If he keeps his discipline he'll certainly add size up front and will take some pressure off sims, Hill and Westwood etc. I don't think Tony Smith will accept any messing about from him and I'm prepared to give the guy a chance. ....could turn out to be a good signing ."
