ONE Warrington athlete has booked their spot at the Olympic Games in Rio next summer.
Johny Akinyemi, whose father's family come from Nigeria, has secured his place at a second successive Games after winning the canoe slalom African Championships this weekend.
The self-funded athlete, from Padgate, topped the podium for Nigeria in Sagan, Kenya to qualify for Brazil in 2016.
Akinyemi, who admits training can prove tricky with a lack of white water in Warrington, was Nigeria's first canoe slalom competitor at the London 2012 Olympics.
