Burscough 4 Warrington Town 1

TOWN’S stuttering start to the season continued at Burscough where Shaun Reid’s men suffered their first league defeat on Tuesday.

That made it one win, two draws and a loss from their first four games this campaign.

The Yellows were not helped by the sending off of defender Danny Ventre, having gone behind after 30 seconds.

Liam Caddick and Paul Williams, from the spot, gave the hosts a two-goal lead before Ventre saw red for a lunging tackle on 55 minutes.

Town halved the deficit nine minutes from time when Ciaran Kilheeney stretched out to turn the ball home after Karl Noon’s shot was parried by the keeper.

But goals from Wade Joyce and Chris Tyson followed as the Yellows slumped to their first defeat of the season.

Town: Wills, Brown, McQuade (Noon), Ventre, McCarten, Robinson, Gahgan (Roberts), Burke, Kilheeney, Gillespie (Wharton), Metcalfe. Subs not used: O’Donnell, Collins.
