A GLUT of Warrington bowlers will be in county action this weekend.

Chris Ashton will lead the Lancashire side that travels to the Isle of Man.

He said: “It is a great honour for me to be the captain of the Lancashire team on this, their first ever visit to the Isle of Man.”

Ashton will have company from fellow Warrington-based players John Brown, John Durrands, Mark Furber, Steve Jackson, Matt Humphrys and Chris Goodhand.

Meanwhile, Cheshire face Derbyshire in the British Crown Green Bowls Association Endsleigh Senior County Championship – with Carl Armitage as skipper of the home team.

St Oswalds’ Phil Davies cuts a lone Warrington figure in the away tie at Stretton Bowls Club in Burton on Trent, while in the home match at Knutsford Bowls Club there are scheduled appearances from Dave Penketh, Tommy Johnstone, Jimmy Harrison and Lee Johnstone alongside Armitage.
