APPLETON Tigers completed A league double over Oakmere for the first time in their history with a thrilling final-over victory.

The win keeps Appleton top of Division One with five games to go.

Sami Fowler conceded only 11 runs from eight overs but Annie Rashid got the double breakthrough to peg back Oakmere’s scoring rate, while Charlotte Cross took 2 for 6 to help restrict their opponents to 118 for 4 from 40 overs.

Appleton stayed on the required run rate throughout the innings.

Emma Barlow top-scored with 29, solid support coming from Chloe Page and Sylvia Christelow.

Cross played some beautiful shots in her innings of 20 before under 15s player Olivia Horsfield and Kathryn Jackson displayed nerves of steel to see Appleton home for the loss of seven wickets with four balls to spare.
