Latchford Albion 28 Chorley 20

LATCHFORD moved into the top four of North West Men’s League Division One with a tough victory over Chorley Panthers at Victoria Park Arena on Saturday.

Albion were slow out of the blocks and the visitors raced into a 10-0 lead before captain Danny Brown showed his pace to race in from 30 metres, Lew Wightman converting.

Sloppy defence allowed Chorley to cross again and at half time Latchford were trailing 14-6.

Fired up, Albion took the game to the visitors and quickly reduced the deficit when man-of-the-match hooker Dave Yii scooted over from dummy half, Wightman converting.

Chorley restored their eight-point lead with a well taken try but straight from the kick off Ryan Hickman barged his way over for another six-pointer..

With time running out Latchford needed to score next and it was Brown who dummied his way over, with Craig Delaney taking over the kicking duties.

Albion have a weekend off before entertaining fellow promotion hopefuls Wigan St Patricks on Saturday, July 11.
