Woolston Rovers 6 Thornhill Trojans 20

DESPITE producing a spirited performance Woolston went down to defeat against high flying Thornhill in the Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three.

Trojans built up a 10-0 half time lead through tries from Joel Gibson and Mindaugas Bendikas, but Rovers got back into the game three minutes after the restart when Will Chadwick and Sean Conway combined to send 17-year-old winger Olly Parr in for a debut try.

Chadwick converted to narrow the gap to four points but an interception by Trojans substitute Adam Bird and Gibson’s second sealed it for the Trojans.

Head Coach John Fieldhouse said: “We are learning the hard way but I still believe we can get into the play offs at the end of the season.”
