GRAHAM Sayer made a successful defence of his world title on a wonderful night for Warrington Kickboxing Studio.

Sayer set a United Kingdom record for the most defences of a Thai boxing title when he defeated Turkey's Guven Zencir in Altrincham on Saturday, while clubmates Paige Farrington and Paul Quayle also successfully retained titles on the bill.

Former Warrington Sports Personality of the Year Sayer stopped Zencir six months ago but the Turk has since been crowned European champion, forcing the re-match with Sayer.

But the jewel in Warrington's crown again showed his steel, winning on points.

Club coach Neil Holden said: "Facing a former adversary can be so much more difficult.

"Graham had a lot of pressure on him to win this contest. I am over the moon for him and elated with pride."

Farrington impressively retained her British featherweight title on points against Beth Cordingley.

Quayle came through a successful defence of his British and inter-continental light-heavyweight straps on points after a re-match with York's Paul Roberts.

Warrington's other winners on the night were heavyweight Jay Furmedge, cruiserweight Mark Woods, middleweight Robert Lightburn, welterweight Nathan Smart, lightweight Ryan O'Donnell.
