LEE Briers is ‘over the moon’ with what he felt was his Warrington Wolves under 19s side’s best performance of the season on Saturday.

Wolves fought back to beat Academy League leaders Hull FC 26-24, having trailed 14-24 at the break at Victoria Park Arena.

Harvey Livett scored twice and added three conversions to edge Wolves in front, with David Foggin-Johnston, two, and Jack Johnson also crossing.

“I am absolutely over the moon for everybody after such a great win,” said Briers.

“I feel as though it is one of the best all-round team performances that I have seen since being involved with the team and they thoroughly deserved the victory.

“We started slowly and Hull FC took their chances but we spoke at half time about what we needed to do to turn things around and the boys went out an executed it to a tee.

“To ‘nil’ a team like Hull FC in the second half is a great achievement and it will hopefully put us in good stead for the games coming up.

“We had seven lads in the 17 that are in their first year at this level and every one of them can be proud with their contribution; also the senior lads in the side really stood up to the plate and produced some outstanding rugby, both in attack and defence.”

Brier’s side face their Huddersfield Giants counterparts on Sunday, 12.30pm, at The Halliwell Jones Stadium as a curtain-raiser to the senior team’s Super League clash with Widnes Vikings.
