UNIVERSITY of Chester Warrington Campus men's football team have been relegated after losing 3-2 at MMU, writes Ashley Thornton-Jones.
A victory would have given Warrington a small chance of survival, but the result sealed their fate with three games left.
The second team lost 6-0 to league leaders Burnley, meaning they need a miracle in their final game to avoid the same fate.
They are three points clear of safety, and will need a 17-goal swing to stand any chance of survival.
In Hockey, the men’s side lost 8-1 to Manchester, while the men’s rugby union were beaten 43-14 by rivals Chester.
The women's netball team lost 42-26 at Keele.
