WOLVES' head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith along with supporters have their say on the team's performance in France.

Facebook:

Lee Van Dusen: Not many teams will go to Catalans this year and win tough game right result

Jamie Chambers: We looked shot after the previous 3 games. Salford gave us everything, Hull was relentless and St George was a bruiser too. Catalan got us on a bad day. To their credit though, they got the win and that's all that matters!

Neil Evans: Not switched on from the start. Feel sorry for the fans that went

John Geraghty: Until we get a half back with kicking game this will continue.

Post-match interview:

Tony Smith: “It has been a tough week for us and I think we were a bit flat from it but I’m taking nothing away from Catalans who did well and needed to today. We’ll certainly look forward to better weeks in terms of numbers in training, those able to train and able to do full training. Whenever we have that it makes it much easier in that respect. It is what it is and we have to deal with it. Unfortunately this week we didn’t deal with it so well. I think the last time we suffered a hefty defeat by the Catalans we went on to reach the Grand Final so we’d like a similar outcome to this one as well. I wouldn’t like to think we’ll have too many days as tough as today in terms of points scored against us. Hopefully that’ll kick us into gear for the next few months.”

At warringtonguardian.co.uk:

realistic southstander: Very poor performance. Defence our forte...you must be joking! The players looked jaded and last week's game did us no favours at all. More casualties on the injured list and no prospects of any change in personnel as a result.

Cheap mower: Can we start playing Penny on the wing instead of full back, hes playing well but on the wing is where he's most dangerous. Also can we please give Wheeler some extra defensive training this week

peteclaffey: Maybe next season they will think twice about playing a meaningless friendly after the season has started , still it was a good "workout " for the Australian team.

Suttonwire: After the last two games against quality half backs it would appear that we are somewhat lacking in these positions. Our kicking game is abysmal at best, this is the second season we have been lacking in this area since the demise of Briers. O'Brien needs a partner who can dictate play, we don't have one. If you look at Super League in general there is not a class British half back with any club. So where do you find one In the NRL? Watching Premier Sports last season it appears that almost all clubs have quality halfbacks. Whether that is a facit of their game they concentrate on or they have an abundance of natural talent that we don't have for some reason. Hopefully the club are attempting to solve our problems in this area, if not we could be in for a long season. On a brighter note the transformation of Kevin Penny has been a revelation.

Paris: The game last week with st George should have set a benchmark for us to build on, not to fall from. Many players looked tired and for me personally, that would be a poor excuse especially with nutritionists, conditioners and physio's that we have nowadays.

Stevec63: Lack of quality at half back will cost us again this year, kicking game so poor again.

pennstate: Bit bored with the same old issues. First time I did not fly to Barcelona in several years. It was too obvious what would happen. Smiths comments are rediculous-out of touch and repetitive. We have being slipping for three years look at the crowds. We need a halfback-Obrien is good but hes not good enough. Sure did miss Mylers tackling today

Crofty11: ....can I just add to your post.... You say O'Brien Is good but not good enough, I see it as o'brien is good but not experienced enough, not to carry a team with a different fb every week, a captain who seems to have lost his form (which I hope he finds soon) , couple of new players who are still settling in, a new halfback partnership, & add to that O'Brien is only player capable of any sort of kicking game, other teams know this & close him down straight away, Briers had Hodgson & Monas who were also excellent playmakers with a kicking game. We had options, atm it's all on O 'Briens young shoulders. Michael Monaghan would have know warringtons game inside out today. Also amazes me , we have a win & no comments ...a loss & every armchair critic appears. A very difficult game today, under any circumstance.

Nitram: You can say. what ever you want but each and every player should take a good look at themselves, people paid a lot of money to go and support the team in Perpignan, they just did not turn up it was disgraceful. We have been continually told that this is a strong squad, well now we know it isn't.
