FOUR Warrington amateur rugby league players will join the North West Men’s League squad for the tour of Serbia this spring.

Matthew Taylor and Luke Walker from Rylands Sharks and Danny Brown and Ryan Hickman from Latchford Albion will play in the Belgrade Cup on May 7, and will play the Serbian national team two days later.

Taylor and Walker were both in action as Rylands gave Premier Division champions West Bank a stern test on Saturday in the Sharks' first pre-season friendly.

The hosts were eventually beaten 18-10 but matched the Widnes outfit in the opening quarter, taking a fine try from the visitors’ centre David Jones to break the deadlock after 20 minutes.

The Sharks hit back with a try for Chris Dean, converted by Jack Lewis, giving Rylands a slender lead at the turnaround.

The second period started well for West Bank with a try for Kieron Butterworth after five minutes but the Sharks responded on the hour mark with a well taken score by Dave Walker.

It was Bears' turn to strike next with a try from forward Mike Dean and West Bank sealed the win with a second try for Butterworth.

Former Warrington Wizards head coach Matt Wilson is now at the helm as the club’s head coach and they have been on a strong recruitment drive ahead of the new season.
