SPECTRUM Striders Ladies’ team head into the final North West Cross Country League meeting of the season holding a four-point lead.

The final round at Beacon Country Park, Skelmersdale on Sunday sees the Striders hoping to hold off nearest rivals Birkenhead and Pensby, Lymm Athletics Club and Warrington Road Runners.

Most recently Striders finished third at Runcorn Town Park, with a combined Lymm AC and Warrington RR team taking top spot.

The combined team had Lymm’s third-placed Andrea Hildrup, along with Warrington’s Tracy Entwistle, seventh, and Tanja Barnes, 16th, to thank.

For Striders, Victoria-Jayne Walls finished fourth, Jane Lowe 12th and Bobbie Lomax 13th.

Spectrum Striders Men’s team sit fifth overall, one place above the combined team.

The top local men runners at Runcorn were Spectrum’s Karl Steinegger, fourth, and Chris Millington, ninth, as well as Lymm’s Jonathan Smith, 21st.
