CHESHIRE Martial Arts Centre students were among the medals at the UK Open Karate Championships held in Birchwood.

Teenage first-dan black belts Lucy Clarke and Rebecca Cameron impressed.

Clarke, 15, earned gold and bronze medals while 16-year-old Cameron collected silver.

Second-dan John Cameron, 38, secured a bronze.

Younger members of the Evans House-based club also fared well under the guidance of the club’s chief instructor and SKA England Squad coach Paul Graham, an eighth-dan black belt.

Eight-year-old Joel Eccleston, a first kyu, won three gold medals while two first-place finishes were each achieved by 12-year-olds Joshua Lewis and Bobby Brown.

Sharon Lewis, Jack Cooper, Ben Booth, Jacob Lewis and Casey Pennington also competed.
