MANAGER Shaun Reid says he takes responsibility for Warrington Town’s lowly league position, but insists his side will soon begin to climb the table.

The Yellows’ FA Cup run, which has spanned eight games, has left them with six matches to make up on some of their Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North rivals.

However, Reid is not happy to look at the table and see his side sitting fourth from bottom.

“I don’t like where we are in the league,” he said.

“It doesn’t sit well with me but I know we are only one result away from kick-starting this season and I know it’s going to come.

“I take responsibility for our league position and no doubt with the cup run it does impinge on results, everything about it plays on players’ minds.”

He is also keen to pay back the recent support garnered by the club following their FA Cup giant-killing of Exeter City on live television two weeks ago.

“I’m not quite sure we are going to win the FA Cup,” he laughed. “But we’re certainly going to try and get promotion.

“The bread and butter is getting out of the league. I’m under no illusions as to what my job is and we will be there or thereabouts.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the Warrington public at the moment.

“I’ve nothing but admiration for them and we’ll get the league form right and push up the table.”

The Yellows lost just nine games during last season’s run to the play-offs, but have already been defeated in six league outings this time around.

“I’m not happy with where we are in the league but I know that’s not where we will be after our games in hand,” added Reid.

“If we win all our games in hand we can move up to about sixth. We lost nine games in the league last year and we’ve already lost six this time around.

“That means we can only lose another three, which is achievable.

“We will progress, we are good enough and we will make a few improvements.”

They will have a chance to start climbing the table with a packed league programme approaching, starting with Radcliffe Borough at home on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

That is followed by a trip to Class of 92-backed Salford City on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

“They are the ones we have got to go and win,” he explained.

“Everyone can beat anyone in this league and we treat every side with the respect they deserve.

“Each game is going to be difficult.

“If you start thinking you’ve already got it right in this game it’ll no doubt come back and bite you.”
