WILLIE Poching leaves Warrington Wolves a proud man having witnessed the club become a ‘genuine top team’.

“I’m very proud to have been here for the four years I’ve spent,” said Poching, one of Tony Smith's right-hand men who joins Hull KR as assistant coach for next season.

“The club has really grown on me and I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’ve loved my time here more than I ever expected to.

“I leave not just with memories but great friends. Warrington will always have a special place in my heart.

“I’ve seen a maturity among the group. I’ve seen them grow from a group of very good players to a team that really believes they’re a genuine top team.

“They’ve always been a big club, but they’re a top team now and I’m proud to have been a part of that.

“I’ve watched the team grow and the expectations from within, but the threats from outside too. You see when people play Warrington they know they’ve got a big game coming up.

“We’ve blooded a lot of young kids this year and the future is in great hands with them. We lost some influential senior people last year and again that’s going to put the club in great stead.

“They’re in great hands with Smithy and Richard Agar, but they’re in great hands within the group as well.

“It’s very hard at the moment not to get emotional, but I’ve loved every minute of it and it will stay with me forever.”
