TWO Warrington-based drivers had mixed fortunes at Oulton Park in the Classic Sports Car Club racing at the weekend.

Culcheth’s Patrick Scharfegger was racing in two different Caterham Supersport cars.

In the Magnificent Sevens race, he shared the driving with John Saunders but after they qualified fourth out of 18 starters, they were forced to retire after only four laps of the race.

In the sports versus saloon cars challenge, and sharing with Matt Spark, they started in 10th place out of 20 starters and were in ninth place at the half-race pit stop for the driver change and re-joined in 10th place.

The rest of the race saw them gain two more places to finish in seventh overall and third in class.

Richard Bromley, in a BMW M3 saloon, started from seventh out of 19 starters in the modern classics race.
