The North of England Road Relays were held at Birchwood Park on Saturday with Warrington Athletics Club picking up medals on the day.

The event started with the under 13s age group and the boys team started the day in great style.

On the first leg Lucas Hayes ran excellently to hand over in ninth place in 11mins16secs.

Sam Evans took over and proceeded to carve his way through the field running the fastest time of the day with 10mins14secs, taking the team into a narrow lead.

Jordan Jones took over for the final leg and romped home in 11mins3secs to take the gold medals in a time of 32mins31secs.

The club’s second set of medals were collected by the under 17s women.

On the first stage the A team were led off by Victoria Ramsbottom who ran strongly to hand over in ninth place with 12mins56secs.

Harriet Knowles-Jones took over 56secs behind the leader and ripped her way through to the lead in 11mins5secs and handing over to Sarah McGrail for the final stage.

Sarah ran well on the final stage with a time of 12mins39secs but was unable to hold on and had to settle for the silver medals in a total time of 36mins40secs.
