Rylands 3 Sandbach United 2

RYLANDS bagged their first win of the Cheshire League season by beating Sandbach United to remain unbeaten in the top flight this season.

Joel Brownhill, Dave Tierney and Kris Bell were on target for the hosts, but newly-promoted Sandbach set up a nervy finish with Connor Sutton twice replying.

Chris Brown’s early shot was comfortably saved by Anthony Marshall in the Sandbach goal, but Rylands broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Brownhill finished from the edge of the box.

Moments later, Alex Lowe drove a shot wide when well placed and Bell headed wide in a good opening period for Rylands.

However, the visitors were awarded a penalty on 28 minutes when Ryan Duffy committed a foul in the box, but Sutton’s spot kick came back off the post.

Sandbach drew level before the break when Sutton beat Andy Moor with a low angled drive.

Bell and Brownhill both fired wide after the interval, but on 57 minutes Duffy played an angled through ball for Tierney to open his account for the club with a well taken finish at the far post.

The hosts increased their advantage seven minutes later when Bell finished smartly following a fine flowing move involving Kay Ajayi, Michael Southern and Brownhill.

Sandbach hit back with another Sutton penalty, but Rylands hung on for the win.

Rylands Reserves enjoyed a 2-1 win over their Greenalls PSO counterparts.

Debutant Dylan Glass broke the deadlock for Greenalls, but after Rylands had levelled it was Nathan Clements who popped up with the winner.
