WARRINGTON’S Mark Jones was in action at Oulton Park’s 60th anniversary Gold Cup weekend.
Jones was racing his ex-British Touring Car Championship Renault Laguna on Sunday.
Starting from eighth, Jones quickly gained two places and was challenging for fifth when he damaged the steering and started to drop back, holding on to sixth place at the finish.
Friends Martin Richardson, from Warrington, and Andrew Bentley, from Lymm, were racing MGB sports cars in the Guards Trophy for GT cars.
Richardson qualified in 19th and Bentley in 24th, with the former regularly looking in his mirror to see if Bentley was gaining on him. Richardson’s car was a fraction faster to finish one place ahead in 19th.
Richardson is leading their overall Class Championship with Bentley second.
