APPLETON Tigers sneaked to a thrilling final-over victory in a rain-reduced league match at Romiley.
Bowling first, Appleton were grateful for the calm heads of Olivia Horsfield, 2 for 22, and Camille Wood, 1 for 19, and committed performances from all the fielders to keep Romiley to 99 for 4 off their 26 overs.
Appleton slipped behind the run rate for a while, but then some daring running between the wickets by Holly McCurrie, 23, and Sami Fowler, 11, provided great support for Emma Barlow, 52, as she reached target with three balls to spare.
