TONY Smith is pleased Leeds Rhinos’ Kevin Sinfield will not be suspended for the Challenge Cup semi final on Saturday.

Sinfield was handed a two-match ban after being sent off for head-butting Luke Dorn in Leeds’ draw with Castleford.

But Warrington Wolves boss Smith, a keen admirer of Sinfield during his time as Leeds coach, is pleased to see the Rhinos captain return.

“It was adequate,” said Smith about Sinfield’s ban. “Kev had a brain explosion and it shows he’s a human being just like all of us.

“Everybody knows I admire him greatly and I think most people in sport do. He plays fairly and he had a snap.

It was the 33-year-old’s first sending off of his career, Smith added: “He snapped and any more than two games with his impeccable record would have been wrong.

“I’m sure he took that on the chin. I’m pleased he’s back, we want them at their best and we want to be better.”
