IN a rain-affected programme in the Knox and Son Friday League Section A St Oswalds inflicted a 241-240 defeat on leaders Golborne CMC.

Top winners were Joe Stone, 21-10, and Bill Burlinson, 21-12. Paul Clegg took the visitors’ sweep 21-15.

King and Queen A closed the gap at the top by scoring a 244-212 success at Tetley A. Stephen Lea the best winner, 21-9, while John Gatley won 21-15 for Tetley.

Section B leaders Tetley B recorded a 12-2 victory at Stag A. John Bradshaw the top winner, 21-6, and Dennis Aldred the hosts’ winner, 21-14.

King and Queen B and St Oswalds B shared a 7-7 draw. Dave Thompson, 21-3, and Harry Bradshaw, 21-8, were Kings’ best winners. Fred Woodall and Chris Naylor shared Oswalds’ sweep with 21-13 wins.

Viaduct lead the way in Section C, they defeated Eagle A 12-2. Top wins coming from John Cooper, 21-9, and Stuart Bloxham, 21-10. Harry Jenkins won 21-5 for Eagle.

John Davies, 21-7, and Alan Davies, 21-13, helped GESM B score an 11-4 victory at Penketh, Peter Bostock replied with a 21-0 win.

Padgate T&BC defeated Woolston B 12-2, Bill Carty, 21-8, and Arthur Cash, 21-10, best winners. Trevor Ptother took the visitors’ sweep 21-12.

Cadishead recorded an 8-7 victory at Orford WM B, Howard McMutrie 21-9 the top winner. Mike George replied 21-6.

Penketh Tavern share top spot in Section D following a 12-2 victory over Tetley C, Alf Green, 21-3, and Alan Rowe, 21-7, the top winners. Jimmy McNicholas replied with a 21-14 card.

Eagle B share top spot despite suffering an 8-7 home loss to Brooklands. John Dickenson, 21-5, and Mike Culleton, 21-8, the best Brookland winners and John Morris replying 21-9.

Derek Gorton, 21-5, and Mike Oakes, 21-7, helped Grange D to a 10-5 success at St Albans. Rob Lawrenson replied with a 21-2 card.

Section E leaders Bulls Head B won 11-4 at Crosfields B. Steve Peters and Tony Judson sharing the sweep with 21-3 cards.
