MATTY Russell will miss the trip to Catalan Dragons on Friday after suffering a head injury in the loss to Wakefield.

The fullback was replaced in the second half after taking a blow to the head, appearing to lose consciousness for several minutes.

Russell did recover to take his feet and did not need to be stretchered off, although boss Tony Smith says he will miss Wolves’ next fixture.

“He’s ok, he’s got his wits about him but won’t be able to play on Friday,” said Smith.

“It’s a short turnaround and because he’s suffered a concussion it means a mandatory miss the next game.

“Matty won’t be playing on Friday, but that’s a side issue. First and foremost he’s ok and sitting up aware.

“I thought he was outstanding, a real spark in our team today. For him to get a head knock, he can’t remember much about it so we’ll have to show him through the week.”

Let's hope Matty recovers well with the rest freshening up, will TS play Ratchford or does this mess up his plans for pairing him with Myler, Bridge has been playing well but seemed to run out of ideas perhaps a weeks rest is due, Myler, Laithwaite, Wood, Harrison need game time so should play, but we need our best half back pairing for Leeds whoever that is, over to you TS.

Ratchford will play at fb v Catalans...but it leaves g'ob with myler as the halfback pairing....not a pairing that works together at all. Even v Wakefield myler would try anything , before he'd pass it to his hb partner. They have to work together as g'ob has the skills to organise but not the experience or confidence, myler has the confidence but not the skills.
The best we can hope for on Friday in France is no injuries, before we play Leeds.
