KATHLEEN Dawson has missed out on a place in the women's 100m backstroke final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 16-year-old Warriors of Warrington swimmer was 10th fastest over the two semi finals staged at the Tollcross Swimming Centre tonight.

The former Great Sankey High School pupil was fifth fastest in the first semi final, clocking 1min 01.17secs.

She qualified eighth fastest from four contests earlier today, touching the wall in 1min 00.91secs to finish third in heat two for Scotland.

Kirkcaldy-born Dawson will also compete in the 50m backstroke on Monday and 4x100m medley on Tuesday.
