Woolston Rovers A 18 Rylands Sharks 19

RYLANDS snatched a last gasp drop-goal victory in a derby win over Woolston Rovers in the North West Men’s League Division Two on Saturday.

Rovers were 12-6 ahead at the break with their tries coming from Liam Sullivan and Paul Wilson, either side of a Sharks try from Jack Hancock.

Second-half tries from Ryan Palin, Sam Hughes for Rylands and Kurt Whitely for Woolston evened the scores before Peter Leonard landed the drop goal to steal the win.

Rovers A: Liam Sullivan; Jordan Millington, Paul Wilson, James Rosson, Craig Davies; Dominic Ball, Matt Wilkinson; Dan Fearnley, Scott Whiteley, Mark Robinson, Kurt Whiteley, Danny Griffiths, John Welch. Subs: Billy Maunder, Tom Fagan, Conor Gerrard, Steve Dowson.

Sharks: Chris Meacock; Aaron Holliday, Jack Hancock, Carl Lloyd, Danny Hoyland; Jack Lewis, Peter Leonard; Mike Lagar, Louis Walsh, Tony Fretwell, Sam Hughes, Sean Withington, Matt Taylor. Subs: Jake Upton, Ryan Palin, Chris Morley, Steve Griffiths.
