Rylands Sharks 22 Wigan St Pats 34
RYLANDS Sharks fell to an impressive St Pats outfit in North West Men’s League Division Two.
The visitors took an early lead with a well-taken try from centre Jim Brown, converted by Tyler Spence.
Their lead was increased further through a try by Sam Malkinson.
Carl Lloyd hit back for the Sharks with a try after 25 minutes but a try by Luke Taylor converted by Spence on 38 minutes followed by a penalty goal on the hooter gave Wigan an 18-4 advantage at the turnaround.
The second period saw St Pats pull further away from their hosts with a second try for Brown, with Spence again adding the extras.
Two tries quickly followed for Rylands through forwards Mike Lagar and Matty Burns, both converted by Jack Lewis, but Wigan were in no mood to let the home side off the hook and replied with two tries of their own through Malkinson and Taylor, the latter converted by Spence.
Rylands had the final say with a try from Luke Walker converted by Lewis but the Wigan outfit ran out deserved winners.
Best for Rylands were Matty Burns, Carl Lloyd and Luke Walker, while Phil Glover was the pick of the visitors.
