CHRIS Riley is unlikely to return to Warrington Wolves this season.

The winger, who has scored more than 100 tries for the club, is currently on loan at Wakefield Wildcats and has made 14 appearances this campaign.

Wolves boss Tony Smith says he would only disrupt the 26-year-old’s loan if it was to offer him a prolonged period in the Warrington first team.

“I’m not going to bring Chris back until he’s got a position to play,” said Smith.

“At the moment he’s in the best place possible for his development in order for him to get himself in the best form possible, so we won’t change that.

“If we break the loan period – at the moment we can bring him back at any stage – we’d need to be able to play him for the next month or so to make it the right decision, so at the moment we’re ok without Chris.”

Danny Bridge is also yet to feature for Wolves since returning from a loan spell at Bradford Bulls, with the forward then spending a month at Featherstone Rovers.

“He hasn’t played a lot of rugby league,” added Smith. “He probably played one of his best games for Featherstone last week and may be available for Swinton this week so we’ll monitor him.

“If called upon i’m sure Danny will do a good job.”
