WARRINGTON were unlucky to only get a draw from their game against Alvanley on Saturday with two youngsters Will Fleetwood and Sam Pennington standing out with bat and ball in Division Two.

17-year-old Fleetwood, 78, opened the innings for the first time and his partnership of 96 with James Rudd, 43, enabled Warrington to declare on 184 for 5.

Kyle Adams claimed 3 for 30 in 16 overs and 16-year-old Pennington impressed with 2 for 23 from seven overs, but the Alvanley tail hung on for the draw, finishing on 113 for 9.

The side was back on form on Sunday when they progressed in the Cheshire Shield with a five-wicket win over Disley.

Disley posted a good score of 181 for 8 despite the best efforts of Kyle Adams, 4 for 22, and Isaac Webster, 2 for 32.

A steady start of 41 in reply from openers Chris Kirby, 29, and Will Fleetwood, 22, set up the middle order with Brad McIntosh, 57, and Tom Clutterbuck, 33 not out, giving Warrington a well-deserved five-wicket victory.

Warrington seconds registered a huge 119-run victory over Bowdon seconds in the Chapel Press Cheshire County Cricket League Division One on Saturday.

Warrington’s openers Tushar Mahambrey, 83, and Simon Swain, 51, posted an opening stand of 136 before Tom Clutterbuck, 31 not out, and Joe Quinn, 33 not out, closed the innings strong on 229 for 5.

Skipper Sy Hewitt, 4 for 11, led the way with Arron Chaderton, 3 for 7, cleaning up the tail as Bowdon were cleaned up for 110 in 37 overs.

Warrington thirds were beaten by Oxton thirds by five wickets after being bowled out for just 84.

Harry Kellett, 3 for 9, gave Warrington slight hope of defending the low total but Oxton stuttered to 86 for 5.

Warrington fourths were also beaten by Irby thirds due to a huge collapse seeing Warrington finish on 140 for 7 after an opening partnership of 111 from Mans Naseem, 50, and Matt Jackson, 49.

Irby reached the target on 141 for 4 after their top scorer was dropped twice in the field.
