Culcheth Eagles 22 Portico 12
EAGLES remain perched at the top of North West Men’s League Division Two after a victory over Portico on Saturday.
Portico caught the league leaders off guard and went ahead early on but Culceth hit back with two tries from Jimmy Tunstall levelling the scores with James Wilde converting both attempts.
A penalty goal from Nathan Bell ensured the Eagles were ahead at the break with the half finishing at 14-12.
Eagles defence worked hard in the second half to keep Portico out and a try from Bell converted by Wilde increased the gap before Wilde’s penalty goal confirmed the win.
