GRAPPENHALL Seconds secured some much-needed points with a battling display against an impressive Alderley Edge outfit.
After winning the toss, skipper Matt Titchard asked the visitors to bat and they ended on a healthy 281 for 7 from their overs after some lacklustre fielding from the hosts.
In reply the home team struggled but there was a bright innings from Tom Hulme, who passed 50.
A ninth wicket, eight over stand between Pennington and Titchard helped the hosts secure some points from a tough day.
SKIPPER Rob Slater led the way with a magnificent 96 to help secure a win for Grappenhall thirds against Toft In addition important contributions from Matt Brown and Ben Bodha helped the home side to 233 for 6 off their 45 overs.
Swing and seam from Stan Pennington and Josh Hayes helped reduce the visitors to 58 for 6 before Pennington came back on to finish the job.
The win moves Grappenhall off the bottom of the league and they face Cheadle next week.
