Tony Smith confident Warrington Wolves can deal with Michael Weyman
MICHAEL Weyman’s return will be a boost for Hull KR but one Tony Smith is confident his Warrington Wolves side can deal with.
The prop has won his appeal over a two-match ban and is the Robins’ squad to face Wolves at the KC Lighstream Stadium on Friday night.
Weyman scored two tries as Craig Sandercock’s side beat Wolves 12-25 in Super League Round 8.
“He’s one of their go-forward men and experienced players, those big men through the middle are hard to deal with so he’ll be a big boost to them,” said Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby.
“I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to having him back but at the same time we’ve been able to cope with him in the past on one occasion and not so well on another, so hopefully we’ll be able to do a good job on him and others on Friday.”
The Warrington boss also believes his side have improved since they clashed with the hosts twice in five days earlier this season.
“We’ve improved since the last time we played,” he added. “Hopefully we can take some of the recent form and apply that even though it’s a four-day turnaround for us.
“It’s a big ask on rugby league players but we’re happy to roll our sleeves up, go over there and give it our best shot.
“We know how difficult it is to play particularly on their patch, when we went through in the cup it was a hard-fought game and that’s what we expect again.
“They’ve had some ups and downs, a bit up and down on their form, some days they would rather forget as well as some days where they’ve been really strong and solid.
“Every team goes through a period like that throughout the season, they have lost a few through injury and had some suspensions so it does effect the form of your team.”
