GRAPPENHALL thirds shared the spoils with Marple on Sunday when the rain stopped play near the end of a close game in the Cheshire County League Sunday Division.

Ben Bodha’s half century was supported by Albert Pennington’s knock of 35 but a below par score of 133 all out had the side needing to do well in the field.

Stanley Pennington claimed the wicket of the Marple captain in the first over before more wickets followed for Josh Hayes and Matt Brown.

Despite the wickets, the runs flowed too freely and Marple looked favourites to take the win on 74 for 3 with 10 overs left to play.

Rain stopped play and after the teams came back out the pitch was declared unplayable with standing water on the outfield.
