A WARRINGTON Rowing Club junior pair were crowned National Schools' Regatta champions at the National Watersports Centre.

Junior under 15s girls' double sculls of Lucy Glover and Ellie Davies were third with less than 200m remaining, but powered to victory to win the Wycliffe Watermen Trophy by less than half a second.

The success resulted from many hours training on the River Mersey with coach John McQuillian.

Other Warrington finalists were junior under 16s girls' coxless quadruple sculls Gina Tarpey, Lucy Stanhope, Pippa Curran and Ayesha Wooler; and girls' under 14s coxed quadruple sculls Abbi Ellam, Niamh Flanagan, Bethany Rigby and Faith Allman, coxed by Lucy Glover.

At The British Rowing Master Championships, sculler Phil Higginson achieved a menメs singles sculls third place. (Veteran D; 50-54).
