JEN Clarke took a remarkable seven wickets for five runs as Appleton Tigers beat Astley Bridge before falling short against Trinity.

Tigers battled to 119-9 in the first game this week with 42 runs coming off the bat of Emma Barlow, who partnered Charlotte Cross for a short time with the debutant scoring 16 runs.

Nat Long and Sami Fowler got a wicket each in their opening spells before Clarke was introduced to steal the show and wrap up Astley’s innings on 37.

The second game saw Appleton post 101 for 9 off their 40 overs against Trinity with Barlow again the side’s top run scorer on 28.

Clarke continued her fine form getting two wickets for 10 runs after Cross’ double breakthrough, but it was not quite enough as Trinity sneaked home for the loss of eight wickets.
