WARRINGTON'S upturn in form since defeat at Bradford faced its toughest test so far with league leaders Leeds coming to town.

The highly rated Leeds outside backs were supposed to be too classy for Warrington, but if truth be told they hardly featured in the match.

Warrington started the game with at least the same intensity that they did against Saints two weeks ago.

The big difference from the start of the season is that the they look like they know how they want to play and believe in that way of playing.

Virtually from the start Leeds were getting beat in a way that most teams hate to be, conceding quicker play the balls than they would like and leaving holes in the centre of their defence.

After 17 minutes the first try was an example of Warrington's belief they could cause Leeds trouble down the middle, Michael Monaghan jumping out of acting half back and his brother and Chris Bridge supporting on the inside.

Bridge took the inside pass to break through the retreating defensive line and then beat Zak Hardaker with a dummy.

Richie Myler came on much earlier than he did against Wakefield but looked just as keen to win his starting place back.

After 30 minutes he dummied his way through the Leeds line and then passed to the supporting Chris Hill to score between the posts.

Warrington were well on top now and scored again before half time, a simple handling move from close to the line allowing Bridge to glide over for his second try. The 18 points to nil lead at half time was fully deserved.

In amongst the game plan of working Leeds over down the middle there were still plenty of glimpses of the flamboyant attacking style that created some chaos in their defence out wide.

Warrington's defence was another cornerstone of this performance and they never looked second best at any stage in the match.

They came very close to being the first team to keep Leeds pointless in a Super League game since 1998 and became the first team to score more than three tries against them in a match this season when Joel Monaghan took full advantage of some excellent vision by Micky Higham to crash over in the corner from close to the line.

Top teams are starting to play badly against us, that is an excellent sign.
