WOOLSTON Rovers will be attempting to cause an upset when they travel to Siddal in the Conference Challenge Trophy first round on Saturday.

National Conference League Premier Division leaders Siddal are three divisions and 41 places above the Warrington outfit in the pyramid but Rovers will go to Yorkshire with nothing to lose.

“It is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves against the side that are currently the best in the NCL,” Rovers head coach Lee Westwood said.

“We know that cup games can throw up a few shocks every now and again and it would be fantastic for us as a club if we could get a result.”

Rovers have yet to find top form so far this season, having won four and lost three in the league, while their opponents are yet to be beaten.

“We know it will be a very tough encounter but we’ll certainly be giving it our best shot,” Westwood added.

“The lads are all looking forward to putting in a good display and if we do that it should be a cracker.”

The coach leaves Monks Sports Club at noon and any supporters wishing to travel can contact Nikki Whalley on 07889170895.
