Coventry Bears 28 Woolston Rovers 8

ROVERS suffered defeat at the hands of Coventry Bears for the second time this season in the National Conference League Division Three, despite taking the lead twice.

Woolston opened the scoring after 18 minutes through Andy Adison after some good play from Wez Lawton and Scott Whiteley, with Chris Mellor adding the conversion.

The score was levelled 10 minutes later before Rovers edged back in front via Mellor’s penalty goal.

Rovers were set to go in at the break with the lead but they gave away possession in their own 20 metre area on the stroke of half time for Bears to pounce and score a converted try.

The second half saw the away side fall apart quickly with Coventry building momentum when an error from the kick off gave Bears a scrum which they capitalised on and scored out wide.

The game was rounded off in style when Coventry’s Matt Brewer intercepted a Rovers pass and raced 40 metres to score right of the posts.
