STRETTON sit clear at the top of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One after posting a home victory over neighbours Glazebury on Saturday.

Stretton put on an imposing 211 for 7 declared in 42 overs, with contributions from Junaid Mir, 39, Adnan Ashraf, 33, and Ehsan Malik.

Kyle Keeble’s 5 for 42 was the pick of the bowling figures, but Stretton continued to find runs late in the order through Hari Shollinghar, 23, and Hamid Raza, 22.

Reaching Stretton’s total always appeared a tall order for the visitors, who were never truly in the chase as only 18 for opener Dean Lord and a middle order effort of 27 from Jack Warhurst troubled the scorers.

Stretton’s hostile bowling attack saw three wickets apiece for Hafiz Usman, Ali Zubairi and Mir. Shollinghar took the final wicket to bowl out Glazebury for 88.
