WARRINGTON coasted to a nine-wicket win at Bredbury St Marks in the Cheshire County League Division Two on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Warrington invited Bredbury to bat and the visitors were unable to master the hosts’ attack.

Kyle Adams, 5 for 44, pinned them down while 16-year-old Sam Pennington, 2 for 16, and Ashley Scholes, 1 for 38, added support as Bredbury finished on 123-9.

Openers Chris Kirby, 55no, and skipper Richard Heaney, 28, posted a 50 partnership, followed by an unbroken second wicket stand of 74 between Kirby and James Rudd, 33no, for Warrington’s first win this season.

Ryan Swart, 2 for 36, made the early breakthrough for Warrington second team at Bredbury and when the change of Chia Gaddippalli, 4 for 17 and Vickram Palanisamn, 3 for 30, were brought in the hosts were dismissed for 113.

After the loss of an early wicket, the middle order of Ian Sleigh, 27no, Charlie McElroy, 26, and Joe Quinn, 23, laid the foundation for a five-wicket win.

Warrington thirds slipped to a five-wicket defeat to Brooklands.

Following the loss of four early wickets, Les Connolly, 49, Alan Hitchmough, 33, and Rishav Manta, 25, repaired the damage to close at 180 all out.

Tom Fagan-Hall, 2 for 35, Manta, 2 for 36, and Hitchmough, 1 for 22, took the only wickets as Brooklands crossed the line with three overs to spare.

Warrington fourth team started slowly against Irby, pacing their innings with openers Dom Hastings, 75, and Mans Naseem, 39, putting on 137 for the first wicket.

Unbeaten Raj Soni, 36, set the pace for Warrington to declare on 197-4. In reply, Howard Morris, 5 for 18, gave a master class of seam bowling on his return from injury.

The pace bowling of Raj Soni, 2 for 21, had the visitors on the back foot with Natan Jeffery and Dave Lee claiming a wicket each to give Warrington an 82-run victory.
