A FIRST victory of the season eluded Rylands once again on Saturday when they lost by six wickets at Westminster Park.

Batting first, the Gorsey Lane club limped to 71 all out, with the sluggish outfield restricting the boundary count.

Despite removing a Westminster opener with the first ball of the innings, the victory was always unlikely and so it proved as the total was surpassed with six wickets to spare.

The second team hosted their Westminster Park counterparts but the result went the same way. Rylands took all 10 wickets but only for a total of 239, meaning 240 was required for victory.

Despite steady progress at the top of the order, the task in hand was too great and a collapse saw the innings over for 100, 140 runs short of the victory target.
