WARRINGTON’S multiple tug of war medal winner David Gill has continued his success after turning his hand to athletics.
Gill, from Stockton Heath, has won seven world gold medals, 12 silver world medals, and three European gold medals in tug of war but has added athletics to his competitive repertoire.
The retired Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service station officer took part in the Cheshire County Athletics Championships over the weekend and claimed four gold medals and one bronze.
Saturday saw Gill, who collected 13 gongs in athletics events at the World Firefighter Games in Australia two years ago, win gold in triple jump, 1,500m, and 5,000m, as well as bronze in 400m, in Macclesfield.
He claimed another gold in the 5,000m steeplechase on Sunday.
This comes after Gill cleaned up with four golds and one silver at the Northern Veterans Championships in Leigh a week earlier.
