THERE is a four-way tie at the top of section A in the Knox and Son Friday League run by Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association.

Grange A joined Golborne Members Club following their 256-221 victory, while King and Queen A soared with a 248-212 win at Alford A.

John Taylor 21-3 and Alan Manual 21-7 were their top winners, with John Green taking the home sweep 21-14.

A pair of 21-7 wins from Jason Lockett and Dave Penketh saw St Oswalds A defeat Tetley A 244-205, while John Harris replied 21-15.

Grange B defeated Orford WM A 268-224, with Trevor Thomas the best winner in 21-2. Ken Leigh replied with a 21-16 card for the visitors.

Eagle B lead the way in section D despite suffering a 10-5 reverse to Grange D.

John McKay 21-3 and Ray Sherratt 21-5 were the best Grange winners, with Noel Horan responding 21-2.

St Albans registered an 8-6 victory over Penketh Tavern, with Rob Lawrenson’s 21-10 card the best. Paul Hitchen replied with a 21-5 success.

Wins from Ron Foster 21-11 and Keith Blundell 21-12 helped Culcheth to an 8-6 success over Monk Sports A. Brian Clarke took the visitors’ sweep 21-14.

In Section E, Monk Sports B recorded a 9-5 win against Grange C with the top wins coming from George Sutton, 21-6, and Ken Bibby, 21-8. Ronnie Thurston replied with a 21-5 card.

Mark Walsh’s 21-4 triumph helped Richmonds A to a resounding 13-2 victory at Crosfields B, for whom Mark Vaughan was best 21-17.

Croft BC scored a 10-4 victory over Stag B, Brian Birchall 21-8 and Ken Taylor 21-9 being their top winners. John Davies was the top visitor 21-17.
