FRIENDS Andrew Bentley and Martin Richardson raced at Oulton Park at the weekend in the Allstars motor race for pre-1966 sports, GT and touring cars, both driving MGB roadsters.

With friendly rivalry, Bentley, from Lymm, put his marker down by gaining second on the 20 car grid for the race, with Richardson, from Warrington, two places behind him.

Bentley made what appeared to be a very good start, but it was too good and he got an automatic 10 second penalty for a jump start.

However, he held onto his second place until passed by a fast charging Lotus Elan that was in a faster class to finish third overall and make the podium as well as take first in his class.

Richardson also had a good start and held third behind Bentley until lap seven when he was passed by the Lotus Elan, finishing 2.7secs behind Bentley.

Both cars came through without any problems.
